A Sunday Morning

This late November morning I awoke to my husband not in his usual place. His bible was open, evidence of his being at the kitchen table, but he was gone. I thought, “he’s probably gone to get a cup of coffee.” But as I walked into the sunroom, I looked out my window and saw him taking pictures. He wanted to capture the beauty.

It’s so difficult, with our little iPhone cameras. It seems we can never quite capture what’s in our minds eye, because there’s so much more than what we actually see.

He later sent me this picture, with the caption: A Table of Three by the Water Pump.

David and I speak the same language. ❤️

We call that little place the lily pad. It’s perfectly shaded with a leafy canopy, a perfect place for an intimate conversation. The antique pump was relentlessly sought after by David. It has a bit of nostalgia from his uncle’s farm, part of his favorite childhood memories. This water source is sweetly positioned.

This Trinitarian setting reminds us that we’ve been invited to join this ongoing intimate conversation. It’s water for our soul at all times in all seasons.

Psalm 19.
